About Setra * Daughter of the Sun

"Do you eat?" is one of the first questions that Setra hears when people meet her for the first time, because she's so tiny. Standing at nearly 5'6" and weighing a mere 95 pounds, this tiny chanteuse makes people want to spend their time protecting her from hard edges......until she opens her mouth and starts to sing. Then they want to know where inside herself she hides that big person with the powerful voice.

"Being so tiny as a child, I had to yell to be noticed," she says. "The big mouth just sort of stuck." Lucky for us it did, because this little girl with the "big mouth" has a lot to say, mesmerizing us with her delightfully quirky broken hearted love songs in a deep, sultry voice that falls somewhere between Sade and Alanis Morisette. "I cut my musical teeth on them," she says, "as well as on legends like Shirly Bassey and Barbara Streisand."

And what does Setra have to say with her "big mouth"? She goes from being playfully naughty in her homage to what she terms "self-pleasuring" in "Can't Stop Thinking About You", to her breezily meditative song about lost love, "Cool Rain". Setra takes us on a musical journey inside of a heart that's been broken one too many times, but still emerges stronger and ever hopeful, as evidenced in her song, "Fall In Love Again".

Her audiences have been seen brushing tears from their eyes as she strums her guitar and sings a fan favorite, "Heaven", a song about her long lost sister.

This multi-talented artist is too skilled to just do music for herself. She's also been diving into creating music for film and television. Her compositions can be heard in productions like BET's "Keith Sweat's Platinum House", "Rappin' With Shakespeare", and "LA Ink", where she also gets her sun tattoo.

With two CD's under her belt and another in the works, Setra has been taking her show on the road, traveling to places like India, London, California, Texas and New York to spread her unique brand of sunshine around the world, one song at a time! She plans to visit those places again this year, adding Mexico, France and Amsterdam to the roster.

As if all that wasn't enough to keep this tiny dynamo busy, Setra has been dabbling in screenwriting. One film that she did re-writes on has been produced and is in the editing stage. Once the edit is done, Setra will be scoring the music for the film, adding yet another dimension to her many talents and accomplishments.
